Several years ago, I finally got around to reading the book Watership Down. I was immediately taken with the beautiful story and well-crafted characters that leaped off the pages. The adventures of Hazel, Fiver, and their brave (fluffy) companions captivated my imagination and transported me to a world where they faced incredible challenges and formed deep bonds. I was so taken, in fact, that when I rescued my pup Tavi a few months later, I almost named her Hazel in homage to the main character. Instead, this Watership Down inspired art will have to do.

A Love Letter to Literature

This original rabbit artwork isn’t just a pretty picture; it’s my love letter to the magic of storytelling and how it sticks with us long after we’ve closed the book. Themes of courage, friendship, and all that good stuff resonate deeply with me. Each stroke of charcoal, pastel, and copper metallic pencil is a nod to those characters who hopped right into my heart and made themselves at home.

A Splash of Whimsy for Your Walls

I hope this piece transports you back to those sun-soaked days spent lost in a book, where every page turn brought new adventures. Whether you’re a fan of Richard Adams’ classic or just someone who appreciates the quirky charm of rabbits in art, this piece is a reminder that stories can shape our lives and spark our imaginations in the most delightful ways.

Perfect for book lovers or anyone who digs literary-inspired animal drawings, this piece invites you to celebrate the joy of reading and the connections we forge with the stories we hold dear. Let this Watership Down inspired art be your daily reminder that adventure awaits just beyond the pages.

The

Fauna Collection

This collection of beautiful 4×6″ charcoal pencil and linoprint originals were created in the month of October as a meditation on the diversity of nature found in our back yards. Following prompts from the Wild October draw list, many of the creatures featured are characters in my own life story. Now it’s time for them to have a place in your home.
